While striving for excellence, we will continually take new challenges in all arenas of band activities.
We are diverse individuals with different priorities, musically and politically. Each band member is granted full self-expression.
Checkered Past was formed in early 2005 when Kerry Stanley joined with the band previously known as Carry On (Martha Haehl, K.C. Compton, June Holte and Lynn Snyder.) We changed our name to Checkered Past. June took off August, 2006 to pursue other opportunities. About that time we formed an alliance with Bill Langsdorf (performer, sound engineer, songwriter, and luthier.) Then in August, 2007 Bill joined the band, lending his bass voice, fingerstyle guitar playing and repertoire.
We want to extend a special thanks to those who have hosted house concerts for us: Carmen R. of Kansas City, Karen H. and Lee S. of Kansas City, Linnea and Cheryl of Topeka, Mark S. of Emporia, Jean L. of Kansas City and Fred E. of Kansas City.
